Message from Marton Country Music Festival Inc, 2011
Secretary, Anne George
Hello Country Music Lovers,
Once again we welcome you to the Marton Country Music Festival, Wilson Park, Marton on the 20/21/22January 2012.
This festival has attracted many overseas artists in the past and 2012 is no exception. We have SLICK NICKEL from USA coming for 2012. We also have our old friend Allan Webster from Australia, as well as newcomer Rosanna Ruddick from Queensland. There will also be lots of NZ favourites again - Roger Tibbs, Kylie Austin, Trevor Stevens, Joy Adams, Jordan and Kaitlyn Watene - just to mention a few.
For early arrivals to the festival there will be a 'meet and greet' jam session on the Thursday evening,in the big marquee, and everyone is welcome!
It is envisaged that the free bus will be available to take people in to town from the park. This is something else that still has to be confirmed, but I m pretty sure it will happen.
The Internatinal Vero Vintage Car Rally is on for three days prior to the and the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday after the festival. Eash day 150 vintage cars will be visiting Marton and you are quite welcome to join in the fun uptown.
Parking at Wilson Park for campers will be available from Wednesday, so I'm hoping you will take the opportunity to see these wonderful old cars and their drivers as well as have some fun.
For those wishing to book accommodation, it would pay yoiu to get on to it as Marton is looking to be very busy at this time.
The car rally promoters are bringing in Nick Mason - drummer for Pink Floyd. He could well be making an appearance at the festival, so drummer, here is your chance to mist it with the big time.
Over the years we have been pretty lucky weather wise, but come prepared for anything the elements may throw at us. You won't want to miss anything.
The festival committee is looking forward to seeing you in Marton, January 2012.
Marton is the place to be!
Anne George, Secretary, Marton Country Music Festival Inc.
