May 23-30 - Dennis Marsh Tour to Norfolk Island to the Trans Tasman Country Music Entertainer of the Year 2009
With warnings of thunderstorms hitting Norfolk the day before we departed, we all rearranged our already summer-packed suitcases and replaced with winter woollies! We were fooled! The weather was divine and it was capris and T shirts for most of the week!
Our group of thirty people were well into the swing of things by the end of the first day - we had a very busy schedule. With the CM shows taking up 5 nights of the week should one wish to attend all shows, it left little time to explore the island and meet the people so we advise the most popular night's entertainment and take the opportunity to spend the remaining evenings going on the Progressive Dinner, the Island Fish Fry, Walk in the Wild with Mini Golf and Luncheon as well as the Half Day Tour.
Brendan Dugan, Annette Hawkins & Kim Copedo's groups all joined our group on various occasions.
One of the NZ contestants, Kienan Ngapo was in our tour group and although he didn't get placed in the competition, he certainly wowed the audience with his amazing voice. Kristal, the winner, from Australia and Lance also from Australia and placed runner-up, befriended Kienan and the three of them spent quite some time singing and having photo shoots together.
Dennis, Brendan, Joy Adams, Annette & Kim performed several times at the RSL to very packed audiences. Every day was a sell out and these shows were most enjoyed by the locals and tour groups who were right into the real country music delivered by the artists mentioned.
Dennis managed to get one day fishing - with Liz from the RSL and her crew. They caught a bin load in a matter of a couple of hours which was desperately needed at the RSL to feed the hundreds of mouths booked in daily!
Once again, a fantastic week on this beautiful island and bookings have begun for next year's Festival on Norfolk Island - 15-22 May 2010. Book early as flights are always totally booked out each year.
