Taranaki is set to have several international A-list artists perform at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands over the next three years.
The New Plymouth District Council has an agreement with promoter Andrew McManus, who brought Fleetwood Mac in December 2009, to have six events featuring A-list artists between now and the end of 2013.
One potential artist is American country singer Taylor Swift who announced she would perform in New Zealand at the end of the year as part of her world wide tour.
Other possible performers are R.E.M, Coldplay and Radiohead, who are all set to release albums this year.
Mr McManus has signed on with the council following the success of the two Fleetwood Mac shows.
Each concert will be exclusive to Taranaki, with the solo artist or band playing no other North Island shows while in New Zealand.
Andrew McManus Presents promotes artists such as ZZ Top, Chris Isaak, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull, Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dog, Korn and Guns N Roses.

Nominations will open here on May 1st for Country Music Female Artist of the Year, Country Music Male Artist of the Year and Country Music Duo/Group Artists of the Year, for the 2012 National Country Music Awards.
From a Filipino and Irish background, Noriana Kennedy was born in Dublin but moved to Galway to become part of its thriving Irish music scene. After six years of gigging and honing her craft, she has released Ebb n Flow, an album that revels in both the Irish and American folk tradition.
Noriana now finds herself at the fore of the Irish roots music scene, singing with esteemed players like Sharon Shannon (this year’s WOMAD), Gerry Paul and The Waterboys’ Trevor Hutchinson. The Irish Times lauded Ebb N Flow for the “…exquisite phrasing and a songbook as wide as a southern porch…” Noriana has also played live on Irish national radio (RTE 1) and been invited to perform at Ireland’s most prestigious festivals. The singer was awarded the Irish Music Network Performance and Touring Award in February 2011, and consistently wins audiences over with her nuanced, joyful performances and her fluid playing of the quirky hybrid banjo-ukelele. Noriana’s most recent accomplishment was the inclusion of two of her tracks on the ABC Australia’s compilation “Celtic Divas”.
For Ebb ‘n Flow’s maiden Australasian tour, Noriana will be joined by Galway native Nicola Joyce, who Earl Hitchener of the Wall Street Journal praised as a “magnificent vocalist who sings with sheer beauty and poignancy.” Nicola is a seasoned and gifted performed who has played in over 500 cities across the globe with Americana/Irish group Grada. Nicola plays percussion and mandolin and is a harmony singer of both precision and grace.
Also hailing from Galway, Noelie McDonnell plays with an ease and magnetism that is all too rare in modern performers. A singer songwriter of genuine class, Noelie received extensive airplay in Ireland with “Nearly Four” a song inspired by his nephew. He has been hailed by the New York Post as a “startlingly good, new Irish talent” and his album “Beyond Hard Places” spent two months in the ITunes Top 10 folk album charts. The live arena is where Noelie thrives and he has been invited to share the stage with such luminaries as John Martyn, Greg Brown, Luka Bloom and Eddie Reader.
Together, Noriana Kennedy, Noelie McDonnell and Nicola Joyce spark splendidly off each other, bringing added magic to the already impressive ebb and flow. Having performed on stages through Europe, Australia and America, their splendid vocals combined with guitar, percussion and the banjo-ukelele to weave a beguiling tapestry of Irish and American folk.
For the New Zealand leg of their tour, they are joined by Grada guitarist Gerry Paul who was a key performer in Sharon Shannon’s band as they performed at this year’s WOMAD.
They are performing in the New Plymouth Club on Saturday 19th May. Tickets ($25) may be purchased from the NP Club.
